Boston Fire Alarm has the distinct honor of being the first department in the world to utilize the telegraph system to notify firefighters of a fire.   The system was installed in 1851 with the first fire alarm transmitted on April 29, 1852.  These coins are a tribute to our Fire Alarm Operators, some of the best in the world, who work day in and day out to protect the citizens and firefighters who serve the City of Boston. Sizing: 1 ¾”.  Finish: shiny nickel.
